At Dou Yoga we believe in the importance of the individual and the collective of a community. Each person and body expresses the pose and the classroom experience differently, even if it looks the same on the outside, it can feel very different on the inside. So regardless of class level or style or teacher, honor and take responsibility of your actions.
The classroom is also a space to connect and share your practice amongst your friends and neighbors so it is important to maintain the safety and comfort of the space for yourself and each other.
Yoga is more than physical flexibility and strength (although it can be very effective for that) it is the process, the experience, the reintegration of breath, mind, body and community.
This class will move a little more slowly and will be broken down a bit more so beginner's and veterans alike have a chance to refine their practice, but don't be fooled, beginner friendly doesn't necessarily mean easy.
You can come expecting an arm balance and or an inversion or two. An understanding of your alignment, ability and limitations is required. This class will flow so be prepared to move in and out of poses and sweat a little (or a lot) bit.
Caters to a wide variety of students and levels. The class will often move from pose to pose. Previous experience of yoga asana is suggested. There might be a few challenging poses in the mix, but it will depend on who is in class, but be mindful of your body and practice in a way that is appropriate for you.
A perfect way to stave off the mid day slump. Get your body moving with a steady flow and then ease into the afternoon with a mind clearing meditation, restorative pose and or yoga nidra.
This vinyasa class joins creative flow, sequencing, and alignment of yoga. It combines movement, creativity, kinesiology, and anatomy to bring clear and concise awareness to the body. Focus on alignment and the breath is paired with a challenging yet well-paced vinyasa. This class blends rigor of asana, self-reflection, and exploration of philosophy. This is an open level class which caters to all practitioners through personal attention, props, variations, and modifications.
Building off of the information from the Dou Yoga class, we get to take our understanding of your bodies and allow for a more expressive, seemless movement, breathing from one pose to another allowing us to harness our energy and conciousness.
A class built around functional and fundamental movements for better physical posture and emotional/mental well being. The movements are built upon the foundation of breath where the alignment is structured to meet the individual.
A heat-building power trip of a yoga class that emphasizes developing "smart strength". Awaken sleepy muscles, scour the depths of your core, refine your posture and develop ninja-like focus. You might leave feeling like a superhero.
