Class Description

At Dou Yoga we believe in the importance of the individual and the collective of a community.  Each person and body expresses the pose and the classroom experience differently, even if it looks the same on the outside, it can feel very different on the inside. So regardless of class level, style or teacher, this is your practice, honor and trust what your body tells you.

The classroom is also a space to connect and share your practice amongst your friends and  neighbors so it is important to maintain the safety and comfort of the space for yourself and each other.

Yoga is more than physical flexibility and strength (although it can be very effective for that) it is the process, the experience, the reintegration of breath, mind, body and community.

Beginner Friendly

This class will move a little more slowly and will be broken down a bit more so beginner's and veterans alike have a chance to refine their practice, but don't be fooled, beginner friendly doesn't necessarily mean easy.

  • Reboot & Refresh

This deceptively vigorous and alignment based flow is designed to challenge your strength, access your breath and sharpen your focus. Discover a deep release of your muscles and daily stressors. Mentally reset and restore the body to finish the rest of your week with optimum vitality.

  • Yoga & Pilates

You will be brought back into proper alignment and stabilize your core through the powers of pilates and then eased off into the night with mindful yoga practices.

  • Flow & Restore

Take time to warm up the muscles, joints and the spine as we move at the pace of your breath. We will build to a mindful flow and a deep burn, moving from one pose to another as we tune our attention inwards and cultivating mindfulness and awareness.

  • Ground & Restore

Begin your week on a spacious note. Ground & Restore is a practice of tuning into presence and deep rest. This is a space for you to land and be. We start off with a few somatic explorations that bring you into your body, and transition into restorative rest. No previous experience needed. Wear comfortable clothing and bring some layers if you get cold easily.

  • Rise & Shine

Start your week off right with this 45 minute practice structured to build balance and energy. This class combines breath work with uplifting asanas to create a invigorating vinyasa full of creativity and inspiration to carry into the rest of the work week. Accessible to beginners, yet lends itself to more challenging options for the more experienced yogi.

  • Mindful Vinyasa

Take time to warm up the muscles, joints and the spine as we move at the pace of your breath. We will build to a mindful flow and a deep burn, moving from one pose to another as we tune our attention inwards and cultivating mindfulness and awareness.

  • Mindful Vinyasa + Pranayama

Take time to warm up the muscles, joints and the spine as we move at the pace of your breath. We will build to a mindful flow and a deep burn, moving from one pose to another as we tune our attention inwards and cultivate mindfulness and awareness.

A breathing pracitice (pranayama) will be incorporate either into the class as a whole or there may be dedicated time for a specific breathing technique.

  • Advanced Fundamentals

In this class we cover the fundamentals of each pose by looking at the anatomy of each movement, working to understand our abilities and limits and exploring how some of the more simple poses we take for granted can have a real impact on the foundation for more challenging poses. We will also experiment with how our breath and breathing can have an influence on the poses, on our feelings and thoughts and overall experience of life. This class is good for both beginners wanting to learn and veteran practitioners looking to refine their practice.

  • Vinyasa Flow

An uplifting class with a little more movement and transitions to build strength, endurance and flexibility. You can expect to breathe, move and possibly sweat and then drift into a deep relaxed state during savasana (final rest).

You can come expecting an arm balance and or an inversion or two. An understanding of your alignment, ability and limitations is required. This class will flow so be prepared to move in and out of poses and sweat a little (or a lot) bit.

  • EmPower Flow

A heat-building power trip of a yoga class that emphasizes developing “smart strength”. Awaken sleepy muscles, scour the depths of your core, refine your posture and develop ninja-like focus. You might leave feeling like a superhero.
